The 2019 college football season begins on August 29, and although Clemson and Alabama remain the favorites to reach the College Football Playoff, other teams like LSU, Texas, and Nebraska have renewed optimism heading into the new season. Below are three games to highlight in 2019:
1. Ohio State at Nebraska (Week 5) – Despite winning only four of its 12 games last season, Nebraska is considered a championship contender by some oddsmakers in 2019. The team posted a 4-2 record in its final six games last year and will return quarterback Adrian Martinez. Ohio State has a relatively easy schedule through the first four weeks and should be undefeated for this contest.
2. Texas at Oklahoma (Week 7) – These two rivals played twice in 2018, with each team winning a game. Both teams are expected to be among the top-10 in the nation, despite the fact that Oklahoma will be without quarterback Kyler Murray, who was selected first overall in the 2019 NFL Draft.
3. LSU at Alabama (Week 11) – Alabama has beat LSU in each of the team’s last eight meetings, including a 29-0 victory last season, but LSU finished the year strong with a win in the Fiesta Bowl. This game will have major implications in the SEC West.
